And…another quick update

I was busy eating here instead of blogging. Sorry about that. (And yes, I bought a t-shirt, too.)

Sorry about the lack of compelling, meaningful blogging as of late. For one, I was working in Los Angeles at my day job, with evenings taken up by an exploration of Los Angeles’ culinary delights. For the record, I love eating out in L.A., even moreso than I do in New York. I find L.A. is cheaper and less pretentious. And more importantly, I think they’re very innovative out there. Some of the more “foodie” spots we hit this trip included Animal (my third time there, a carnivore’s dream), Buddha’s Belly (pan-Asian fare in Santa Monica) and Mohawk Bend (locally-sourced, high-end pub grub with 75 beers on tap), along with the L.A. classic Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles (no explanation needed).

Then, of course, there was the hurricane, which made landfall in New York the same day we were going to fly home. So, if you were following my Twitter account, you saw we opted for the overland solution. Surprisingly, everyone had more fun than we thought. I even bought an adapter so I could plug in the laptop and write. That, unfortunately, didn’t happen as often as I would’ve liked, but I did get some stuff done. And we had fun substituting the word “corn” in TV and movie titles. Because, you know, there was a lot of corn.

And THEN, I was home with my daughter the rest of last week, which was great fun, full of playdates and diner food…and little writing. Thankfully, I made up for it with a burst of writing this weekend, and now, of course, this blog post.

No more news on submissions yet, but give the Labor Day weekend, I wasn’t expecting it. This stuff really does take time, and at least I have some writing to work on while I wait…patiently…kind of patiently…oy, vey. I want more chicken and waffles.
